Big Brothers Big Sisters estimates the cost of recruiting a mentor, carefully matching a child with a compatible Big, and managing the relationship with ongoing monitoring, training and support for the Big, Little and family to be $1200.

Did you know that, after being matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister, 91% of ‘Littles’ feel better about themselves? Studies show that the strongest indicator of a child’s future success in school and in life is his/her self-esteem (Schwartz, 2010). Mentoring programs including our traditional one-to-one matches, school based programs and adjunct programming for children waiting to be matched, are helping to raise the self esteem of the 1000+ local children and youth that pass through our doors annually. This is helping to build a stronger, more productive, and more successful community.
